Claus Lemaitre
After receiving his qualification as a banker at private bankers firm, Claus graduated with the German equivalent of an MBA with a concentration in taxation & accounting, auditing and tax law from the University of Cologne in 1998. He started his career at Peters Schönberger, and in 2002 joined P+P Pöllath + Partners, a major German law firm specialized in corporate tax, private clients, M&A, private equity and venture capital. From January 2005, Claus was equity partner of RP Richter, a more than 200 person spin-off of Ernst & Young, where he spent more than five years being responsible for the international tax consulting business.
In 2011 he founded Lemaitre Taxperience, as an independent integrated part of the Taxperience network. Claus is a German certified tax advisor, a German certified specialist in international tax law and a trust and estate practitioner (STEP). Claus is an academic lecturer at the University of Münster, Postgraduate LL.M. Tax Law Program since 2004 (subject reorganization tax law) and is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) since 2000. He publishes frequently about tax issues in academic and business journals.
Claus has experience in all fields of taxation. He advises in restructuring and reorganization, domestic and cross-border tax planning, private equity and venture capital, mergers & acquisitions, finance issues and is well-versed in private clients' subjects (HNWI issues including relocation of residency to and from Germany) and expatriate taxation. Claus services a wide variety of businesses, ranging from new businesses, internationally operating SMEs to publicly traded corporations, private clients and funds. He is known as an implementation-oriented advisor always working toward a solution without ever compromising the quality of his work.
When off-duty, Claus likes to spend time with his wife and his son. Together they enjoy travelling and bicycle tours. Claus is a New York enthusiast ever since his 6-month internship at a tax advisory firm in the mid-1990s.
